What is at stake
One missing approval holds the whole shipment
Customs, marketplaces and regulators check for these. The penalties are written into the law, and your stock waits while you fix it.
Selling or importing a BIS-notified product without the Standard Mark
Contravening section 17 is punishable with imprisonment up to two years or a fine of not less than Rs 2 lakh (first contravention) and not less than Rs 5 lakh (subsequent), extendable to ten times the value of goods, or both; the offence is cognizable.
Gazette The Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (Act No. 11 of 2016)Telecom gear found without an MTCTE certificate
If notified equipment is found without a valid certificate, the holder is served a notice to stop sale, distribution or use within seven days. To resume, it can obtain certification within 180 days on payment of ten times the normal fee, and the authority may seek seizure or destruction.
Gazette G.S.R. 315(E), 16 May 2025 - Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025 (Gazette copy on DoT eServices)A CRS licence that lapses, even for goods already in stock
After the validity date of a CRS licence that has not been renewed, the licensee is not authorised to mark or dispatch (including stock in hand) products with the Standard Mark.

Why Comploa
A reference you can check line by line
Most compliance guides are written to sell a service, and they disagree with each other. Ours shows its working.
Each fee, date and rule links to the gazette, regulator or portal that set it.
Pages show when they were checked, and rule changes go into a dated ledger.
Where the rules are unclear or unpublished, we say so instead of guessing.
Not a regulator and not a consultancy. Partners never change what a page says.
BIS, EPR, Legal Metrology, WPC, MTCTE and BEE, mapped product by product.
The checker and the first compliance check cost nothing.

FAQ
Questions importers ask us
Is the compliance check really free?
Yes. Tell us the product, its model or datasheet and where it is made, and we reply in writing with the approvals it needs, the official fees and a realistic timeline. There is no obligation to use a partner or buy anything.
Are you a government body or a certification agency?
No. Comploa is an independent reference. We do not issue licences, registrations or certificates, and the authority's decision on your product always prevails. See our disclaimer.
How do you make sure the information is right?
Every fee, date and rule is stored once with the official document it comes from, checked a second time independently, labelled by source type and dated. Our editorial policy explains the process, and every page lists its sources.
Which products do you cover?
Phase one covers 20 electronics products, from Bluetooth earphones and power banks to routers and LED lighting, plus the Quality Control Orders for toys, cookware, furniture and footwear. Ask us about anything else: we research it for you.
Can you file the applications for me?
We introduce you to vetted consultants, BIS-recognised labs and Authorised Indian Representatives who file on your behalf, under their own terms. You can also file yourself using our guides.
What happens when a rule changes?
We update the fact once and every page that uses it changes with it. The change goes into our dated ledger of new rules, and alert subscribers hear about changes that affect their products.
